New York City in Rock Out Mode
Yet another New York City visit, this time accompanied with some classic '80s rock. Watch and enjoy as my mom, Heather and I explore the city that never sleeps. And to my Apple fans, there is some Apple Store footage within this video. How can I refuse even a second of Apple footage when visiting NYC? I just can't... it's my drug. Soundtrack: "Yankee Rose" by David Lee Roth "Dangerous Bastard" by Rockstar's Lovefist

EF New York Summer 2007
A video of the best travel ever made!!! By popular demand, info about the trip: -------------------------------------------- This trip was one of the best things that I ever made. I'm going to explain a few things, what I did (in 3 weeks), what I learned, the bad things and the good ones, and some tips :) . Let's start with what I did: EF new york is located in a village called Tarrytown to 30 - 45 minuts of Manhattan (Grand Central), almost every day we took the train to visit New York. In 3 weeks we visited: Grand Central, Chrysler building, United Nations, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Plaza, World Trade Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Metropolitant Museum of Art, 5th Ave (shops), brooklin bridge, coney island, staten Island, Little Italy, Chinatown, SOHO, Times Square, Wall street, greenwich village, central park, ... There was more but I can't remember it. We traveled to Washington with EF the first weekend and we took a tour for all the monuments, white house, lincon memoryal, penthagon....bla, bla, bla (too fast, boring and expensive). At night we went to the center of the city and visited some Clubs...(this saved the trip). The second weekend we traveled to Canada. These time we rented two cars (with GPS) instead of taking the EF trip (we saved up to 100-150 dollars that way). There we visited niagara falls and spend some time around visiting the shops. Then we went to Toronto, where we went to The Guvernment Club (really cool)at night and the next day to the CN Tower (amazing). What I learned: The EF school is good, the teachers were very pleasant, The classes were a lot of fun. But in 3 weeks don't expect to learn a lot of things. What really help you is in the comunications because you have to talk in english with your classmates, teachers, people from the city.... This is exactly what you will learn in EF or another school..in 3 weeks. The bad things: The most important, the food. Believe me it's very bad, what we ate in the EF school was...shit. Every day you have to eat: chips, hamburgers, pizza, chocolate cake, some kind of "chips ahoy", and other things from "AREA 51". To drink: coke, fanta, sprite, aquarius...oh, and water, tap water... Another bad thing are the facilities, old, very old... The weather was very hot (august, normal). Don't cry if you lose you baggage it's normal, the airlines are very bad... (you are going to recover it in a few days) The good things: The friends that I made. The things that I visited, The price of the things (compared to Euros), the full experience of travelling to USA, and other things... Tips: First off, forget about the bad things, probably, if you can organize your time, you are going to spend just the night in the school to sleep and the mornings for the class. The rest of the day you will be in ...manhattan. The food is bad, but you can alway eat some food in Tarrytown or in manhattan... Go shopping!!! In my case, I'm from spain and the ratio EURO-DOLLAR when I traveled to USA was 1,35, now is 1,47 almost 50% off.... Imagine a Quicksilver sweatshirt that in spain cost 100 euros, ther you are going to find it for... 40-50 dollars, then apply the ratio and you get a sweatshit for 20-25 euros... boooom. Use the new york subway for everything!!! Be open with the people you will meet!!! There are two ways to vacation with EF: (1) Be the one than go to class and then spend the time in the campus with few people and go to sleep earlier (a looser). (2) Be the one that go to class and make friends, organize parties in the bedroom... spend a lot of time visiting places bla bla bla (that's the way!). I hope these help you. P.D. The last tip I give you is: Do the trip to New York!!!!
New York, New York!
They don't come any bigger than the Big Apple - king of the hill, top of the heap, New York, New York. Capital of the world, New York has it all. For a closer look at the city, Mara, my 3-year old granddaughter, wandered through Times Square, the streets of Greenwich Village and Soho, and rode on a ferry to Liberty Island. One of her favorite parks, next to Central Park, is Bryant Park. Nestled behind the grand public library is this lovely square of green where local Midtown workers gather for lunch-time picnics on warm afternoons. Among its offerings are impressive skyscraper views, Europe-like coffee kiosks, a carousel and frequent special events. City Hall Park with its gas lamps, fountains, and lovely landscaping is a nice place to have a milk break for Mara. Central Park, an 843-acre carpet of green, is a stunning park, located right in the middle of the borough, definitely a place that is not to be missed. An oasis from the insanity - the lush lawns, cool forests, flowering gardens, glassy bodies of water and meandering, wooded paths provide the dose of serene nature. Mara especially loved the children's playground, Strawberry Fields, and Turtle Pond. This trip also took Mara to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the largest place of worship in the USA - and it's not finished. On completion, the 183m (601ft)-long Episcopal cathedral will rank as the third-largest church in the world (after St Peter's Basilica in Rome, and Our Lady of Peace at Yamoussoukro in Côte d'Ivoire). A design highlight is the Great Rose Window, America's largest stained-glass window. Mara also loved to walk along Fifth Avenue, from New York Public Library to the Rockefeller Center. Across from the Center is St. Patrick's cathedral, which features an elaborate interpretation of French Gothic styles. Mara journeys to the Big Apple for the first time and takes us to her favorite places, including sight visits to Hoboken, New Brunswick, Atlantic City, and the historic town of Philadelphia

Yesterday I traveled down the Apple Store on 5th Ave New York City and saw the pandamonium for the iPhone. No where as big as the Grand Opening but a bigger police presence and waaaaaay more News Teams. Check it out this snippet...
Grand Central Station Oyster Bar
No trip to New York City is complete without a quick lunch time visit to the Oyster Bar underneath Grande Central Station. In this REMOVISION video, Remo unexpectedly finds himself playing a part in his own movie. Even so ... at the end of the day, the Cherry Stone Clam Pan Roast made up for everything. Another interesting aspect of this video is the fact that it's the very first one that Remo himself has been able to film and edit by himself on the run. That session on iMovie that he attended at the Apple Store in SoHo was worth the effort. Let us know what you think!
