location- Heron Island lies on the Tropic of Capricorn, 72 kms north-east, off the coast from Gladstone from central Queensland. The flight time from Brisbane to Gladstone is approximately 80 minutes. There is a courtesy coach which departs from Gladstone airport daily at 10:30 am to Gladstone Marina to connect with the Heron Island airconditioned launch, which takes 2 hours. rooms- The rooms are medium in size. The tiled floors and tropical, bright colours create the perfect holiday atmosphere. The bedrooms and bathrooms are in good condition (renovated in 2001). restaurant- Shearwater Restaurant is on the ground floor level and ajoins the pool area. The Pandanus Lounge and Bar caters for light snacks and provides nightly entertainment. exterior- Modern low-rise exterior. lobby- The lobby is small. general- Heron Island is located right on the Barrier Reef. It is made up of coral and is ideal for nature lovers, researchers and divers. It has been declared a Marine National Park.
