PARADOR
location- Built in the 10th century, this hotel whose name derives from the "zuda" or wall, which is preserved within its grounds, seems to stand guard over the town of Tortosa. rooms- The rooms are bright and functional and the level of comfort makes them a marvellous place in which to relax. restaurant- Rice, harmoniously accompanied by shellfish and fish, plays the leading part in the unique local cuisine, manifesting the influence of catalonian and moorish traditions, with dishes such as la escalivada con bacalao (cod with vegetables), or angula en suc (eel in sauce). exterior- Among the early constructions, the walled enclosure and what were the governor s Palace and royal residence have been preserved. The current dining- hall occupies a large part of the former Palace and today is endowed with some very extensive windows, fine examples of the catalonian gothic style. The newer parts of the building also feature extensive balconies which bathe all of the rooms with light, contradicting the habitual dark image of other medieval castles. lobby- A light, spacious area. general- In the middle of the fertile plain of the Ebro ans backed by the Bceite mountains, which can be superbly viewed from the swimming poll and balconies.
